Ferdinand Habsburg has come away from a very wet Nürburgring with two top-six finishes in the European F3 Championship with his Carlin Racing-prepared Formula 3 car.

Ferdinand Habsburg has come away from a very wet Nürburgring with two top-six finishes in the European F3 Championship with his Carlin Racing-prepared Formula 3 car.

The youngster from Vienna was, like many others, caught out by the treacherous conditions in qualifying one, but he showed confidence and control to climb from thirteenth to fifth in an exciting and exhilarating race one.

“I would have liked to have climbed up the ranks in race two but the conditions were tough and I didn’t want to take any risks,” he explained. “Carlin gave me an awesome car, even in terrible conditions, and it’s the least I can do to bring it back in once piece and take the points,” he continued.

Race three didn’t end so well for Habsburg as an incident ended his weekend early. But, given the conditions, he was happy with his two top-six finishes. 

“The conditions were tough but to come away with two top-sixes is okay,” he concluded. “Overall, I’m happy to be at the sharp end of the field and I’m battling it out with the championship contenders.”

The European F3 Championship continues with the penultimate round at Habsburg’s home event at Red Bull Ring on 23-24 September.
