Ferdinand Habsburg remains with Team WRT to defend his FIA World Endurance LMP2 and Le Mans titles in 2022. The Austrian will share the car with ELMS Pro-Am Champion Rui Andrade and Le Mans podium finisher Norman Nato.

For Habsburg, 2021 has been a year of superlatives. In his first LMP2 season he won the Asian Le Mans Championship (with G-Drive Racing by APR), the 24H of Le Mans and the FIA WEC LMP2 title (with Team WRT) amassing three victories and four podiums over the course of the six-round championship.

After his best racing season to date, Ferdinand will compete again in the FIA WEC this year, joining the championship’s biggest ever grid of 39 cars, including 15 LMP2 entries, sharing the cockpit of the #41 REALTEAM by WRT Oreca 07 LMP2 car with fellow Bullet Athlete Andrade and 29-year-old Frenchman Norman Nato.

2022 marks the 24-year-old Austrian’s third season with Team WRT. He joined the Belgian squad in 2020 and took the first pole position and podium finish for the team in DTM. For the 2021 season, Ferdinand rejoined Vincent Vosse’s team entering their maiden season in the FIA World Endurance Championship together and has taken the pinnacle of endurance racing by storm.

Ferdinand Habsburg:

“If it’s working, why change it? WRT became like a second family for me in the past two years, so it was a no-brainer to carry on with them to defend our titles together, and there is no better option to choose than the reigning champions. We set the bar high last year but I know what they are capable of. I am grateful to my sponsors REMUS Sportexhaust and AVL Racing for their continued support, allowing me to do what I love the most at the highest level. I am really excited to share REALTEAM’s car with Rui and Norman and can’t wait to get going in Sebring!”

The six-race 2022 WEC season begins in March at Sebring (USA) before visiting Spa-Francorchamps (BEL), Le Mans (FRA), Monza (ITA), Fuji (JAP) finishing in November in Bahrain (BAH).
