Ferdinand’s sports car career started at the Daytona International Speedway in 2018, and the Austrian driver participated in the event two more times after that. His last attempt was in 2022 with Tower Motorsports alongside John Farano, and although they got really close to the win, they had to settle for third in the end.
Next year, Ferdinand will join team owner John Farano (CAN), multiple V8 Supercar champion and IndyCar Series driver Scott McLaughlin (NZ) and GT ace Michael Dinan (USA) aiming to claim victory and the Rolex Daytona watch that comes with it.
Habsburg, who was recently announced as an official Alpine driver for the 2024 FIAWEC season in the Hypercar class, has won every championship and major race he entered in LMP2, including the Asian, European and World titles and the 24 Hours of Le Mans and he is eager to add Daytona to the list.
“A win in Daytona is the only one missing from my LMP2 bucket list and we got incredibly close to it in 2022 with John and Tower Motorsports. I am stoked to be back with the team and have another go at it. It’s one of the coolest races on the calendar and I hope this time we’ll leave with a watch.“
Maria Catarineu, Commercial Director Bullet Sports Management:
“Ferdinand will have a busy 2024 season, but when the opportunity to race at Daytona arose from our friends at Tower Motorsports, he didn’t have to think twice. It is one of the greatest races on the calendar and Ferdinand has all it takes to win it with a team like this.“
The two-week event at the Daytona International Speedway commences on January 19, 2024, with the ROAR Before the Rolex 24, followed by the 62nd ROLEX 24 at Daytona on 24 -28 January.
