Ferdinand Habsburg signs with Algarve Pro Racing for a full season in the European Le Mans Series in the #24 Oreca 07 LMP2 car.

Habsburg’s first endeavour with the team was a complete success. With Habsburg, Binder and Ye at the wheel, they went on to winning two out of the four races, claiming the driver’s champions title and playing a significant role in winning the teams championship.

As a result of his outstanding performance, Habsburg was invited to join the team for a full European Le Mans Series campaign.

“Our first attempt at a championship with APR landed us a title and a strong bond between both of us. I am excited to continue this relationship into the European Le Mans Series. It’s a very competitive championship and we want to carry on with our winning streak with all eyes on another title.”

The news comes after the announcement that Ferdinand will make his FIA WEC debut this season with Team WRT.

“I feel very fortunate when I look at my 2021 calendar. Having the opportunity to race in some of the most competitive endurance championships in the world with such great teams is a real privilege. I’ve been working really hard to be in this position, and I am buzzing to get the second half of the season underway.

The 2021 ELMS series season comprises of six rounds, visiting some of the greatest tracks in the world – including five current F1 circuits- like Monza or Spa-Francorchamps. The championship also visits the Red Bull Ring, allowing the 23-year-old Austrian to race on home turf after two years.

“I am stoked to be back at Red Bull Ring this year. It’s been a while since I’ve last raced there, and I hope the circumstances will allow fans to be on the grandstands, because nothing compares to the feeling of racing in front of a home crowd.’’

Ferdinand will share the #24 car with fellow Bullet Athlete Diego Menchaca and FIA WEC LMP2 vice champion and Le Mans 24 hours winner – Richard Bradley. The car will sport a unique livery, marking the beginning of a special project that will be revealed soon.

“I am really looking forward to work with my new teammates. With Diego’s skills and Richard`s impressive racing record, we are off to a strong season together. I am thankful to my partners AVL Racing, Sanlas Holding and Remus Performance Sport Exhausts for their continuous support and to Bullet Sports Management for having my back in every aspect of my career. It’s going to be a special season in many ways, and I can’t wait to reveal our livery which will be the first step towards a greater goal that goes beyond racing.’’

The 2021 ELMS season commences on April 18 at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain.
