Habsburg: “a race win is now in reach”

Ferdinand Habsburg (AUT) came away from a challenging weekend at Norisring and, despite missing out on the podium, feels that the weekend was a turning point in his season and that “qualifying performance must improve in order to race at the front”.

The 20-year old finished in fifth place in the second race of the FIA F3 European Championship weekend after a grid penalty and drive-through penalty cost him a result in the first race. And, although he didn’t make the podium felt that there were positives to take away.

“It wasn’t the easiest weekend but I feel that there are a lot of positives. With qualifying so close here at Norisring, I didn’t manage to maximise my lap, with only 0.15 seconds covering the top twelve cars, it is very competitive. The car felt good, the team was mega and, without the safety cars in race three, I think I could have had a much better result.”

Race three was always going to be a challenge, as Habsburg started from P18. However, in the nine green flag laps, he climbed nine positions to cross the line in ninth.

“We got some points, which is great, but I would have liked to have come away with a lot more. I will, as always, stay positive, work hard and have faith that the good results will come. I know that a race win is now in reach.”

Habsburg next races at Zandvoort on 14-15 July in the fourth round of the FIA F3 European season.
